Andrea Ponsor
Ms. Ponsor represents lenders, for-profit and nonprofit owners, and developers in connection with a range of multifamily affordable housing programs and transactions. Ms. Ponsor’s practice involves negotiating and closing FHA insured loan financings. She also represents multifamily project owners in HUD regulatory compliance and administrative enforcement matters.
Before joining the firm in November 2007, Ms. Ponsor served as an Attorney Adviser in the HUD Office of Regional Counsel in Atlanta, Georgia and in the HUD Departmental Enforcement Center Atlanta Satellite Office. While at HUD, Ms. Ponsor worked on a variety of multifamily matters including FHA insured loans closings, foreclosure of HUD-held loans, limited denials of participation to multi-family program participants for regulatory violations, and enforcement actions for projects with failing REAC scores and audit findings. She also provided counsel to the HUD Atlanta Regional Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity. In this capacity, Ms. Ponsor reviewed complaints of violation of the Fair Housing Act for cause and recommended and filed charges of discrimination where appropriate.
Ms. Ponsor received her Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Tulane University and a Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. Ms. Ponsor is a member of the State Bar of Texas. She is practicing under the supervision of the principals of the firm while her application for admission to the District of Columbia Bar is pending.
